Bill Daniels Ethics in Business Award Goes to Lake Arbor Auto

Westminster Shop Honored Yet Again For Principles, Leadership

WESTMINSTER, Colo. (April 12, 2012) – Lake Arbor Automotive & Truck, a highly decorated Westminster automotive repair and maintenance shop, received the prestigious 2012 Bill Daniels Ethics in Business Award today at a luncheon at the Marriott City Center in Denver.

Presented by the Colorado Ethics in Business Alliance, the award goes to the for-profit enterprise that achieves unwavering adherence to ethical business practice and commitment to the community. The award is Lake Arbor Auto’s seventh in the last three years, and it comes on the heels of announcements that Lake Arbor Auto had won the Golden Ethics Award last year and the Better Business Bureau Torch Award for Marketplace Trust the year before.

Dana TePoel, founder and owner of Lake Arbor Auto, accepted the award at CEBA’s 20th annual award luncheon, which attracted 350 business people.

“When we adopted our Do-the-Right-Thing philosophy years ago, it served a simple purpose,” said TePoel. “We wanted to make the decision-making process an easy one for our employees. When in doubt, do the right thing. Simple. We soon discovered that our simple management strategy turned into an unassailable marketing strategy. I like to think we have a great relationship with our customers, because we do the right thing, and they keep coming back.”

TePoel thanked the Colorado Ethics in Business Alliance for choosing to honor Lake Arbor Auto among all the worthy candidates in the Denver area. The other finalists for the Bill Daniels award: Holland & Hart, Piper Electric, Symbiotic Engineering, EnergyLogic, Spanjer Construction and Gallegos Sanitation.

The pioneering Bill Daniels (1920-2000) built his fortune in the cable industry via a commitment to perseverance, vision and, above all, integrity. He also founded the Young Americans Bank in 1987. His Daniels Fund is one of the largest in the Rocky Mountain Region.

Lake Arbor in 2011 was a finalist for the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce Small Business of the Year Award; and in 2010 Lake Arbor Auto received the Metro North Denver Chamber of Commerce’s Fred Factor Award, as well as the Champion of Free Enterprise award from Sales Professionals International.

TePoel in 2008 was named the Small Business Person of the Year by the Metro North Denver Chamber of Commerce. Lake Arbor Auto has received the BBB’s Gold Star Award nine straight years, with more than 75,000 customer transactions without a complaint to the BBB.
