Lake Arbor Auto Wins 2010 BBB Torch Award

‘Marketplace Trust’ Puts Westminster Shop in Elite Class

WESTMINSTER, Colo. (Oct. 15, 2010) – Lake Arbor Automotive & Truck took home the coveted 2010 BBB Torch Award for Marketplace Trust in the Small Business category today at a luncheon that attracted more than 350 people.

In accepting the honor at the Hyatt Regency Convention Center Hotel, Lake Arbor Auto Owner Dana TePoel said he felt especially grateful to the people who supported him in his establishment of an auto repair shop that could survive and thrive on the principles of integrity, ethics and customer service – all the hallmarks of the Torch Award.

In particular, he thanked the Lake Arbor Auto employees, from the front desk to the back office, all of whom sign a document acknowledging the paramount importance of ethical behavior on the job.

“At HYPERLINK “http://www.lakearborauto.com” Lake Arbor Auto, we have been blessed with the recruitment of some very skilled young people who ‘get it’ right away when we tell them, ‘We do the Right Thing for our Customers – Every Time!’ “ TePoel said. “They understand that our emphasis on ethics makes their jobs less stressful, so everybody wins.”

The runners-up for the Torch Award in the Small Business category were Denver-based HYPERLINK “http://www.illumen.com” Illumen and Littleton-based HYPERLINK “http://www.kellerbros.com” Keller Bros. Auto Repair.

“It is heart-warming to see that that so many small businesses have maintained their emphasis on ethics even in the most difficult economic environment,” said Dale Mingilton, President and CEO of the HYPERLINK “http://denver.bbb.org/” Denver/Boulder Better Business Bureau. “We congratulate Lake Arbor Automotive & Truck on its status as the 2010 Small Business Torch Award Winner.”

The Torch Award was the third ethics-related award that Lake Arbor Automotive has won this year alone. The company received the Metro North Denver Chamber of Commerce’s Fred Factor Award earlier this year; and then won the Champion of Free Enterprise award from Sales Professionals International.

Businesses considered for the Torch Awards must demonstrate a commitment to ethics and excellence in four areas: management practices, community/investors/stakeholder relations, communications and marketing practices, and industry reputation.

Candidates are evaluated by an independent panel of judges from the academic, business and nonprofit community using criteria and standards developed by the Council of Better Business Bureaus for the International Torch Awards.
