Lake Arbor Auto Wins ‘Golden Ethics in Business Award’

Westminster Shop Honored For Integrity, Civic Responsibility

GOLDEN, Colo. (April 22, 2011) – Lake Arbor Automotive & Truck, a highly decorated Westminster automotive repair and maintenance shop, has won the coveted 2011 Golden Ethics in Business Award, presented by the Golden Rotary Club to the for-profit business that demonstrates the highest standards of ethical business practice, integrity and civic and social responsibility.

Dana TePoel, founder and owner of Lake Arbor Auto, accepted the award during a luncheon attended by some 400 regional and civic business leaders today at the Denver West Marriott.

It was the latest of several ethics-related awards for TePoel and Lake Arbor Auto, which in October won the 2010 BBB Torch Award for Marketplace Trust in the Small Business category, awarded by the Denver/Boulder Better Business Bureau. Lake Arbor in 2010 also received the Metro North Denver Chamber of Commerce’s Fred Factor Award, as well as the Champion of Free Enterprise award from Sales Professionals International.

Lake Arbor Auto also is a finalist for the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce Small Business of the Year Award, to be announced May 4 at the Hyatt Regency Denver at Colorado Convention Center.

TePoel in 2008 was named the Small Business Person of the Year by the Metro North Denver Chamber of Commerce. Lake Arbor Auto has received the BBB’s Gold Star Award eight straight years, with more than 68,000 customer transactions without a complaint to the BBB.

In accepting the Golden Ethics in Business Award, given annually since 2006, TePoel acknowledged the people who supported him when he established his business in 1992. He said his business always has been about maintaining the highest standards of ethical business practice, integrity, and civic and social responsibility, hallmarks of the Golden award.

“I especially want to thank each Lake Arbor Auto employee, from the front desk to the back office,” he said after the award ceremony. He noted every employee signs a code of conduct acknowledging the paramount importance of ethical behavior on the job.

“At Lake Arbor Auto we have been blessed with the recruitment of some very skilled people who ‘get it’ right away when we tell them, ‘We do the Right Thing for You – Every Time!’ “ TePoel said. “They understand that our emphasis on ethics makes their jobs less stressful, so everybody wins.”

Today’s luncheon featured a keynote address by Peter Coors, chairman of Molson Coors Brewing Company and chairman of MillerCoors. Ed Greene of KCNC-TV served as master of ceremonies.
